I Remember: Villanelle Poem

Suffocated a darkening image alters fate, confusing my mind and changing my person. Candle stick light burns, wax melts dripping tear drops, illuminating glorious days.
As to you, I searched for guidance that strengthened my willpower and found love.

I remember our hands interlacing for the first time, sparking chemistry instantly.
Empty handed, air rushes through my naked fingers, old memories re-appear.
Suffocated a darkening image alters fate, confusing my mind and changing my person.

I remember gathering around camp fires with you, softly whispering till day-break.
Now the chair beside me holds heavy blankets on cold evenings, which is my only friend.
As to you, I searched for guidance that strengthened my willpower and found love.

I remember admiring garden landscapes together we sniffed each rose as we walked past.
The beauty of nature is now meaningless, since your deep brown eyes will never re-open.
Suffocated a darkening image alters fate, confusing my mind and changing my person.

I remember connecting with my inner peace for the first time. You were a great mentor.
Nightmares leave me restless, destroying life. I fear I have stimulated my aging process.
As to you, I searched for guidance that strengthened my willpower and found love.

I remember our first hellos, I could not stop blushing; you repeatedly complimented me.
Now I remember out last goodbye, we yelled and my eyes stung from crying all night.
Suffocated a darkening image alters fate, confusing my mind and changing my person.
As to you, I searched for guidance that strengthened my willpower and found love.
